Now is the "Bayer" sign on Mount Washinton, another piece of "Americana" gone by the wayside :-(

I LOVE the memory of this sign! We could see it from various points around North Side, always flashing its familiar pattern. As kids, it was how we could tell it was time to get home -- you couldn't say that you didn't know what time it was, because your mom knew you could see the Alcoa sign.

I'm a reporter for the Trib and am doing a story for the Trib P.M. about the sign, the history of it, it's significance, the fact that it's now rusting, etc. If either of the previous posters or someone who feels passionate about the sign could contact me for an interview, I would appreciate it. Thanks. rhentges@tribweb.com or (412) 380-5670
